PLAN YOUR TRIP

We hope that you will find some of the information below useful for planning your trip to Cappadocia – and elsewhere in Turkey!  Do feel free to contact us if you have any planning questions.

Getting to Adelya Cave Hotel

Which airport is closest to Cappadocia?  What is the best bus company to use?  How do I get to Adelya Cave from the bus station?  Is there free parking?  All your questions answered below….

Arriving by Plane

Cappadocia is serviced by two airports: Nevşehir-Kapadokya (NAV) and Kayseri Erkilet (ASR).   We can arrange airport shuttles or private transfers to pick you up from the airport and bring you direct to the hotel.  For more information about flights to/from Cappadocia and arranging airport shuttles and transfers, click here…

Arriving by Bus

It’s a short walk from the otogar (bus station).  Be sure to book with a bus company that brings you to Goreme.  For more information about which bus company to use, and how to find your way from the  bus station to the Adelya Cave Hotel, click here…

Arriving by Car

Free car-parking is available on the street, in front of the hotel.  Although Goreme is a very safe and trouble-free area, parking is always at the car owner’s risk.  Adelya Cave Hotel will not take responsibility in the case of theft or damage to your vehicle.

Refer to this Google Map to find your way from the bus station (on the main road) to the hotel.

Getting to Aladdin's Cave Suites

For those guests staying in Aladdin’s Cave Suite apartments, you are requested to come direct to Adelya Cave Hotel for check-in and registration.  We will then take you to the apartments (approx 190m away).

If you have a car, there is parking 50m from the apartment, otherwise you can leave your car at Adelya Cave Hotel.

It will be VERY helpful for our planning purposes if you can let us know when you expect to arrive, how (by bus, car or flight) and approximately how many bags you will have that need to be taken to the apartment.

Getting Around Cappadocia

The bus-station (otogar) and Information Centre is a 4-5 minute walk from Adelya Cave Hotel.  Local buses (called dolmuş, and pronounced “dolmush”) run from the bus station every half-hour and hour to nearby towns such as Çavuşin, Zelve, Pasabagi, Avanos, Uçhişar, Urgup and Ortahisar.  These buses are a very reasonable priced and a convenient way to get around.

There are also several taxi services to take you specific points of interest, rental car agencies if you prefer to drive yourself, or we can arrange a private car with driver to take you to the sights that YOU want to see.  (Ask for details).

Planning for Cappadocia

Don’t know whether to wear shorts and T-shirt or your winter woollies?  Does it snow in winter?  What time will do you need to wake for the hot air balloon flights?  All your questions are answered below.

Weather

What’s the weather right now in Cappadocia?

What is the typical weather for each season?

Spring
April weather is unpredictable. It can be quite warm during the day, but always cold at night. April is the wettest month, and it may even snow. Winds tend to be higher and therefore balloon flights can be frequently cancelled.

Temperatures are definitely warming up in May and June, although it is still cool in the evenings. Day temperatures range from 20-25°C (68-77°F). Nights are cooler and you will want warm clothing for balloon flights. The spring flowers (both planted and wildflowers) are blooming, the trees are growing their leaves – the colours are beautiful at this time of year.

Summer
July and August are typically the driest and hottest months, and the average maximum temperature is 31°C (87°F) – although temperatures can reach high 30’s and low 40’s. It is a dry heat, however, which means it is more tolerable than the hot and humid weather experienced in coastal areas. If you plan to hike, you will want to head away early morning.

There is very little rain and winds have generally settled meaning that hot air balloon flight will fly more reliably.  Temperatures start to drop in September, although it is still quite warm during the day.  Night temperatures are generally very pleasant although you may wish to have a light jacket.

Autumn
Early autumn is very pleasant – More comfortable temperatures in the day, very little rain, and little wind. Day temperatures in October range from 20-25°C (68-77°F). It does start to get cold in November although you are unlikely to see snow.

Winter
Cappadocia is beautiful in winter, and it’s a great time to come to avoid the crowds. But be prepared for very cold temperatures, and snow! January and February are the coldest months, with an average maximum temperature of 4°C (19°F). Having said that, temperatures can go down to -20°C (-4°F at night)! Plenty of good warm clothing is needed day and night at this time of year. But – Cappadocia with snow-capped fairy chimneys is stunning!
